Missed-call calculator: recoverable margin for auto repair
Estimate recoverable contribution rather than multiplying every missed call by an average repair bill. The calculator is a scenario tool, not a forecast or proof that a receptionist will pay for itself.
Use calls that represent a genuine missed opportunity
Count unique unanswered enquiries during a representative period. Remove spam, repeat attempts and calls successfully returned before the customer went elsewhere. Then estimate the proportion that would have become attended, paid work. Keep that assumption visible and compare a cautious case with your central estimate.
Calculate contribution and recovery separately
Use: unique missed enquiries × conversion to paid work × contribution per job × recoverable share. Subtract the complete software and telephony cost. Illustrative example in your own currency: 60 × 15% × 80 × 50% = 360 before costs. With a monthly cost of 250, the scenario leaves 110. These numbers are assumptions, not industry averages.
Verify the estimate in a controlled pilot
Measure valid appointments, attendance, paid jobs and the margin attributable to recovered calls. Check whether the system merely replaces callbacks the team would already have made. Include setup and staff-review time. Stop or simplify the pilot if the additional contribution does not cover its cost.
What to verify in a trial
- Unique enquiries counted rather than repeated attempts.
- Conversion and recoverable-share assumptions visible.
- Contribution used instead of repair revenue.
- Actual pilot results compared with the scenario.

Is the result guaranteed revenue?
No. It is an estimate that changes with your assumptions.
Which currency should I use?
Use the same currency for contribution and all costs. Do not mix a USD subscription with EUR margins without conversion.
